Beige fat burns energy, traditionally using UCP1. A new type of beige fat uses a “Sisyphus mechanism” to burn energy without UCP1. It’s more common and linked to better health. This discovery opens up new obesity treatments, like transplanting beige fat cells or developing drugs to activate them.
